From the creator of the popular Marrying the Mafia series comes the exciting new adventure comedy Once Upon A Time In Corea. Director Jeong Yong Ki whisks the audience off on a thrilling adventure set in the early 1940s before Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule. The film trails an infamous swindler and a beautiful jazz singer as they embark on a daredevil quest to uncover the national treasure - a 3000 carat diamond. Park Yong Woo (Love Now) plays a dashing elite swashbuckler who stumbles into the biggest catch of his life but is met by a consummate match, Lee Bo Young (A Dirty Carnival). Lee trades in her sweet image for a hefty role as the lusty seductress who sings by day and steals by night. Equally impressive as the leading actors are supporting actors like Sung Dong Il (Some) whose outlandish slapstick humor doubles the laughter for the audience. Though the film reflects on the grim realities of colonialism and stays true to some historical facts, it is laced with period romanticism and fanciful fabrication as evident in its use of modern-day pop culture to achieve a humorous mix of history and fantasy.
