Fred MacMurray stars in this delightful romp from veteran comedy director George Marshall. You know it is going to be good, when you see Marjorie Main, (Ma Kettle), playing a villain. George Marshall, who gave us such comedy classics as Ghostbreakers, Destry, Guns of Fort Petticoat, The Gazebo, and many more, again applies the master touch here and again comes up with a winner. MacMurray is looking for his missing partner, when he comes to the Fleagle family farm.(Whew! try saying that fast ). What he he finds is the zaniest group of characters ever assembled in one family. Let’s see, there is the murderous twins, Mert, and Bert. The only way to tell them apart is Mert has a bad back, or was that Bert? Then there is Grandma Fleagle who glows, Bonnie Fleagle, a notorious bank robber, and Elany Fleagle who isn’t quite all there. The prize, as MacMurray learns, is $70,000 in stolen bank money. No one seems to know where Grandma hid it. She gave a clue to our hero, but will he figure it out? The laughs abound in this combination mystery/thriller/comedy. The dining room scene is absolutely classic! MacMurray is in top form and is helped by an excellent supporting cast. The whole family will enjoy this one. A rare cult classic that is out of print on VHS and never released to DVD. The is a VHS to DVD transfer, and the quality is good.
